2022 Chicago Figure Drawings

In the summer of 2022, I received a scholarship to go to the School of the Institute of Chicago (or simply SAIC) for a figure drawing class. While I was undoubtedly excited about what I would learn in this two-week program, I didn't know the lengths I'd grow as an artist and thinker in its wake. Before going to SAIC, I understood "good" and "proper" art to be a highly technical and accurate rendering of whatever the subject matter was, but being in Chicago revealed to me that "good" art can be many things in a range of styles and mediums, and that the best art makes the viewer feel something beyond "Wow, that's a really realistic painting."
